About
HoloPost is the website of the CAS project “The World, Delivered: seeing the world for each other”.
Not one-way charity, but an exchange
Many people, such as children in poor areas, patients in long-term hospital care and people with visual impairments, may never get to travel. We carry the world to them, and they carry their world to us. A blind child in a mountain village has never heard the sea; a city teenager has never heard dawn in that village. We deliver both directions.
How it works
- A friend makes one specific wish, such as “I want to know what snow sounds like when you step on it.” Wishes come through partner organizations; there are no public applications.
- We go and record it, bringing the place back with spatial audio and hologram video, and add it to See the World.
- We send a sensory parcel, and pin the fulfilled wish on the Wishes Map.
- The parcel includes a stamped return envelope, inviting a reply, a drawing, or a recording of their own world.
The sensory parcel: four fixed parts
Sound and touch are how many of our friends experience the world, so every parcel contains:
An object, such as a seashell.
A sound recorded on location, such as waves.
A voice message of one to two minutes, spoken friend to friend.
Something to touch: a textured postcard with one line in Braille.
What is a “hologram” video?
We use a simple trick called Pepper's Ghost: a small clear acrylic pyramid placed on a phone screen makes the picture appear to float in the air. Each one costs about 20 yuan. For friends who cannot see, spatial audio and written descriptions take the place of the picture.
Privacy and safety
The site never shows full names, home addresses, or the names of schools or hospitals. There are no accounts and no public comments. Every entry about a real person needs a signed consent form first.
Our team
We are a group of IB students, and this is our CAS creativity and service project. Team introductions are coming soon.
For partner organizations
If you work at a school for the blind, a rehabilitation center, a rural school or a hospital social work team, and would like the children or patients you serve to take part, please get in touch. Every wish comes through a partner organization. We ask for guardian consent, use nicknames and approximate locations only, and delete personal details after delivery.
Contact details are coming soon.
